Sample menu for gestational diabetes

Space meals and snacks equally throughout the day and never skip a meal or snack. If you cannot eat all of the food, decrease the portion sizes. It is very important to avoid quick rises in blood glucose.

2 Protein Servings                    2 Oz Sliced Turkey
1 Vegetable Serving                  1 Slice Tomato
1 Fat Serving                              1 tsp Mayonnaise

 Dinner 6:00pm

1 Milk                                         1 Cup Milk
2 Starch Servings                     1 Cup Potatoes
3 Protein Servings                    3 oz Baked Chicken
1 Vegetable Serving                  1 Cup Cooked Broccoli
1 Fruit Serving                           15 Grapes
1 Fat Serving                              1 tsp Margarine
