What is the difference between CalorieSmart models CS100S and CS80S?
CalorieSmart calorie counter comes in two models. The CS100S model has an USB port that allows the device to be connected to a PC. The CS80S model doe not have an USB port. All other features are identical for both the models.
What is the difference between CalorieSmart and Track3?
CalorieSmart and Track3 both have the same 50,000 food item database built-in. Track3 has additional features to track glucose readings, insulin doses, etc that are specific to people with diabetes.
What is the difference between CalorieSmart and the CarbsControl?
The CarbsControl device is designed more around tracking your Carbs per meal rather than Calories like the CalorieSmart. It will let you set and view goals with your total Carbs for each meal (Breakfast/Lunch/Dinner/Snack).
What is the difference between the CalorieSmart and CalorieSmart Mini?
The CalorieSmart mini (CS NL100) is a nutrition lookup device only. You can lookup nutrition values for over 50,000 food items. The CalorieSmart (CS100S and CS80S) have the ability to keep a diet and exercise journal in addition to the nutrition lookup. You can set goals and keep track of your food and exercise details.
How are servings sizes calculated?
CalorieSmart, CarbsControl and Track3 offer the ability to specify serving sizes for food items. Most food items are specified in typical serving sizes (example: 3 oz for steaks). In addition, you can change the servings to be in grams, ounces, cup, tbsp, tsp, etc depending on the food item. When you change the serving size, the new nutritional values are calculated and shown. You can then save the food item as a favorite and the unit will remember the serving sizes that you specified.
How are exercise calories calculated?
The CalorieSmart, CarbsControl, and Track3 units gave a built-in database of exercises. When you specify the time spent on an exercise, the calories are calculated based upon your body weight. You can also create custom exercises or input the calories (say, from a treadmill readout) directly into the unit.
Is the PC software included with the CalorieSmart unit?
CalorieSmart model CS100S has a USB port for PC connectivity. The PC software and a mini-USB cable are included along with the CS100S unit.
Do I need a computer to use CalorieSmart?
No. CalorieSmart is a handheld device that works independent of the computer. CalorieSmart model CS100S has an USB port. If you do have a PC the CS100S unit can be connected to the computer and data from the device can be downloaded on to your PC.
What kind of batteries are needed for CalorieSmart?
CalorieSmart uses two of the standard AAA size batteries.
